A/V Calibration
What is Audio Calibration and why do I want it?
According to THX® the room itself has more than a 50%
effect on perceived sound quality. Why? Because you hear more
reflected sound than direct sound from your speakers in a small room.
Calibration of an audio system is a combination of actions; speaker
placement, listener positioning, acoustical treatments, equalization, etc,
in order to properly balance direct and reflected sound.
The most obvious problem corrected with audio calibration is in the area of
voice intelligibility. Your watching a movie, you turn-up the volume to hear
the dialog, but by doing so the sound effects become too loud.
Although this may be the most common problem it is certainly not the only
one.
What is Video Calibration and why do I want it?
If your like most people, you don't know that there is a standard for how
your television picture should look. Why would you think otherwise,
your local box store has so many displays to choose from, each with it's own
look. Some have more blue or red or green, some bright others
soft....what's right?
Right is what the director intended and can only be reproduced with a
quality calibrated display.
Once properly calibrated, your display will take on a more life-like look
with improved detail. It won't seem so much like TV anymore, it will
have a smoother more comfortable film-like look.
